The resulting design of the Motif playing board is comprised of 25 squares in a 5x5 layout that change the field of play as the match unravels. Each square utilizes a unique turning mechanism that gives access to 3 interchangeable colors: black, gold, and white. Players flip the squares to their colour as their pawns land on them. As the field evolves, you must observe both their opponent and the board’s shifting pattern.
Each tile comprises 3 different coloured parts that snap together to form each square. The squares have been engineered for a smooth rotation, to rest flat, and to withhold the weight of the pawns without tipping over. They come pre-assembled and form the unique qualities of this board game experience.
Motif has evolved based on player feedback and design innovation. We've redesigned the base for smooth, reliable rotations with no jamming. The tiles and the tray go hand-in-hand. The unique design allows for tiles to provide the best Motif experience.

Motif pawns are custom designed to perfectly play on a Motif Board. They slide perfectly across the board to groove into the alignment grid. They are made out of resin for a wonderful tactile feeling. At 10.5 grams per token, the weight gives you a fidget toy you always want to keep in your hands. The Matt Gold & Black Finish were chosen to perfectly match the finish and colour of the board squares providing an aesthetic experience both for the eyes and touch.
Pawns have two sides. The purpose of flipping a token is to mark that it has already "moved" during that turn. Flipping tokens is optional yet serves to enhance the playing experience and makes it easy for both players to keep track of the action.
